7/6/21 News Update: Dave Gives Back Teams Up with Corrales Ditch Run
September 19, 2021 will mark the 5 year anniversary that Dave Cook set out to summit his 47th 14er. Unfortunately tragedy struck and dave never returned. Over the last five years, Dave’s wife Maureen Cook and their 3 children set out to raise awareness to Search and Rescue in Dave’s honor. With their mission in sight Dave Gives Back was born and their journey to raise awareness for the incredibly important unsung heroes of Search and Rescue would begin.
With the Corrales Ditch Run falling on this important anniversary, we are more than excited to announce our partnership with Dave Gives Back. This aligns with the hallmark and spirit of our mission to serve our community and give back. Our combined work will help us to continue to raise funds for the Kiwanis Kids Kamp but also to fund the emergency services of Search and Rescue. We have never been more focused on our local community and this partnership defines that focus. Please join us on September 19, 2021 for this very special run and help us make our community shine.

Dave Gives Back Mission Statement
The Family of David Cook and our family business, Right Sized Inventory, is announcing the launch of our Search and Rescue Awareness campaign to raise funds for Search and Rescue and mountain safety education.
All proceeds from this effort will go to Search and Rescue organizations dedicated to rescue, recovery and mountain safety education.
These incredible organizations are almost always made up of volunteers and can be called upon any time of day or night to help those lost or injured in the area. We know this from first-hand experience when my husband and father of our three children went missing in the Elk mountain range near Aspen on September 19, 2016. Dave was an accomplished mountaineer, summiting over fifty peaks in Colorado. While balancing family life, starting a business and continuously training for outdoor adventures, Dave planned to summit his 47th 14er in the summer of 2016 when an unknown tragedy struck and Dave never returned.
After time, and the support of too many people to name, we wish to honor the gifts and talents that Dave entrusted in us as a husband, father, son, brother-in-law, friend, businessman and outdoor enthusiast by starting the “Dave Gives Back” campaign. We are motivated by Dave’s 8 Missions that he had posted on a notecard above his desk:
These will continue to be modeled in our household and we hope others can use them to help lead a better life.
It was very difficult to watch the many Search and Rescue volunteers put their lives on the line attempting ground and air searches and exposing themselves to the potential of injury with the extreme terrain and weather in the Elk mountain range. Those unselfish individuals put their personal lives on hold to help us and we will forever be grateful for their efforts, even though we have yet to find Dave. Our intent is to “give back” by raising funds and awareness for search and rescue and mountain safety education efforts.
Please help us fulfill our mission by purchasing merchandise of which 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Search and Rescue or by making a tax deductible donation to the “Dave Gives Back” fund.
